My Mom was diagnosed with Parkinson's 20 years ago and is still fighting this terrible disease. It has been life changing for her to live with Parkinson's. She keeps up her fight everyday to battle its side effects on her body.
In addition, our friend Steve Greenfeld was diagnosed with Parkinson’s 8 years ago and now lives with the tremors it causes. His daily life has been greatly impacted from his career as a lawyer to his suffering golf game.
It is in honor of them that I am participating in the Michael J Fox Foundation’s Third Annual Tips for Parkinson’s. Tips for Parkinson's is a guest bartending competition featuring teams of friends and colleagues creatively soliciting tips, donations and support for Parkinson's research. The Michael J. Fox Foundation (MJFF) is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson's disease through an aggressively funded research agenda, and to ensuring the development of improved therapies for those living with Parkinson's today. Since 2000, MJFF has funded over $800 million in research grants and initiatives to speed a cure.
An estimated five million people worldwide are living with Parkinson’s disease — the second most common brain disease. In the United States, 60,000 new cases will be diagnosed this year alone.
Currently, there is no cure for Parkinson’s disease. But together, we can change this. And that's why I’m participating in Tips for Parkinson's: DC.
By supporting me, your gift will make a real difference. In fact, 100 percent of all donations made to Tips for Parkinson's will go directly to The Michael J. Fox Foundation’s high-impact research programs. That means every penny of your support will have maximum impact on our goal: a cure for PD.
Thank you! - Jon
